Vo sạch gạo nếp, ngâm nếp khoảng 2 tiếng đồng hồ. Sau đó xả sạch và để ráo nước. Hạt sen lấy bỏ tim sen, rửa sạch. Cho hạt sen vào nồi, cho nước vào xâm xấp hạt sen, hầm hạt sen chín mềm. Hạt sen chín thì vớt ra, xả sơ lại với nước lạnh, để ráo.
Cho gạo nếp, hạt sen, lá dứa và 1/3 muỗng cà phê muối vào nồi cơm điện. Cho nước lạnh vào xâm xấp nếp (các bạn chỉ nên cho nước vào xâm xấp, nếu cho quá nhiều nước thì xôi dễ bị nhão), trộn đều. Bấm nút nấu. Khi xôi chín thì cho dừa vào nồi xôi, xới đều.
